Argggh!

Blogsy ate my post. I think I can put it back together. I think.

A Proper Winter

 For reference - This is what our house at Christmas should look like.

Oh no, no snow!

This is our house. I took the photo yesterday. The decorations look so forlorn without any snow on the ground.

Hilton Head - Day 2 - December 31

The saga continues...

The view from our deck - who knew?

It's a golf course in our back yard.

It wasn't until morning that we saw the golf course in back. The irony is that Colin and I are not golfers. What do we do in the land of putters and drivers? We bought moonshine. It's cherry and legal. How do I know it's moonshine? It's in a mason jar, of course.
We went on a bike ride. HH has tons of bike paths and Colin rented two coaster brake bikes for us. I'm not a huge fan of bike riding but gamely agreed to give it a shot. The paths were crowded and a bit chaotic. I was not happy.
We had lobster and filet mignon for New Years Eve dinner. The store where we bought the moonshine had a couple of surf and turf and wine specials. We bought the lobster and filet, plus shrimp and steak. The wine selection was limited, but did include a dry red from Lebanon. Who could refuse?

Hello from Hilton Head - Day 1 - December 30

File:HHI Space 03.jpg

Hello from Hilton Head, SC. I'm sitting at the table in our condo, waiting for the day to warm up.  "What," you say, "you don't have a condo!" Au contraire, mon frere, we do, for a few days. Last May we placed the one and only bid at a silent auction, for a week in a Hilton Head condo. We arrived here late Friday night, and have been having a great time.

Colin really wanted to give our new Focus a workout, so with the car packed by the Beverly Hillbillies, we took off. Providing directions was Bossy Jack, the new gps. BJ has timing issues - He was often either way too early or too late with his directions. Adds a bit of excitement to the drive. I think he's related to the insurance commercial's gps disaster guy.

The drive down was pretty and educational. For instance, I learned from the billboards that evolution never happened. Good to know.

Hilton Head is in the migratory path of a lot of birds, which can be diverted by bright city lights, so the streets are dark, by general consent. We were warned about this, but it didn't make the night any lighter when we arrived. Bossy Jack wasn't much help, but we found the condo, anyway.

The condo is nicely set up and equipped*. Outside? Who knows - it's dark.

Added later - We didn't need the iron (never used anyway - I don't know what I was thinking) or the coffee pot (can't take a chance with that).

Road Trip! - Day 0 - December 29

Hello, again. We just came back from a little road trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. I had intended to blog a little daily update, but I got bogged down with the hunt for the best blogging app. That was fun, but now is the time to get serious, ummm, seriously entertaining.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We haven't had a proper road trip in ages, so on December 29, at approximately 15:30 Zulu time, we headed out for Hilton Head, SC.
Bye-bye cold, dreary Michigan. Hello warm, sunny South Carolina.
